Felbertower Museum Mittersill

Felbertower Museum Mittersill
On the ground floor of the Felberturm, you'll find an exhibition dedicated to pack trade ("Saumhandel"). The various trade routes over the Tauern mountains and the fateful stories of the pack traders (Säumer) are brought to life using modern museum education concepts. Visitors can view the basic equipment of the traders as well as a special weather station that holds a few surprises.
On the first floor, the exhibition explores the history and development of Mittersill, from its time as a Bannmarkt (a medieval market with special rights) to its elevation to city status. Particular emphasis is placed on jurisdiction and the relationship between the people and the authorities. The unique witch trial of Mittersill is presented through historical research and an engaging film.
In the adjacent farmhouse, the everyday life of the local farmers – who were often also pack traders – is depicted. The former school building from 1609 now serves as an educational and play workshop for visitors of all ages.
