Bike Pinzgau

Cycling tours in the wide, flat valley basin or in the mountains

All Pinzgau communities want to offer even more to cyclists: There are 1,200 km of approved and signposted cycling paths available in Pinzgau, including 720 km of mountain bike trails. This is an excellent quality and density, even by European standards – and Bruck-Fusch is right in the middle of it.

12A - Hundstein

Starting point is near the center of Bruck. From there, a narrow, paved mountain road leads up through six hairpin bends before turning into a forest path below the Erlhofplatte. Passing the Erlhofplatte, the route continues with gentle curves in the direction of the Hundstein.

A short break is recommended at the Eisbrunnen (Ice Spring), where you can refill your bottle with fresh mountain water. Just a little further on, the Adam and Eve Lakes invite you to rest, with wooden benches and loungers offering a perfect spot to relax.

Passing the Moosalmhöhe at 1.843 m, the trail continues to the Ebnerscharte at 1.873 m. From there, it's only about 200 meters to reach the Hundstein at 2.117 m.
At the summit, the serviced Statzerhaus awaits you with a refreshing drink and the most stunning panoramic views all around.

Route description:
From the center of Bruck, cross the Salzach bridge, then turn right and follow the main road for 1 km. Turn left onto an asphalt road leading up to Jageregg (1.150 m). From here, continue on forest paths to the Erlhofplatte (1.373 m). At the trail junction toward Thumersbach, follow the ridge trail to the Ebnerscharte. After the junction toward Tödlingalm, a narrow path leads you to the summit of Hundstein (2.117 m) with the serviced Statzerhaus.
The descent leads either back via Thumersbach or on the longer route via Maria Alm.

12AD – Moosalm from Bruck to Brandenau Gate

The tour starts near the center of Bruck. A narrow, paved mountain road leads up six switchbacks before turning into a forest road just below the Erlhofplatte. From there, the path continues with gentle curves in the direction of Hundstein.

A perfect place for a short break is the Eisbrunnen, where you can refill your bottle with fresh mountain spring water. Shortly after, you’ll reach the Adam and Eve lakes, where wooden benches and loungers invite you to relax.
Just before reaching Moosalmhöhe, take a right turn — from there, it’s all downhill.

At 1.533 m above sea level, the Moosalm mountain hut awaits with breathtaking views and a cozy atmosphere – perfect for a well-deserved break.

Afterward, the route continues down approximately six more switchbacks until reaching the barrier gate, marking the end of the forest road and the bike tour.

To return to the valley or back to Bruck, you can either arrange a convenient pick-up by car or simply coast down about 3 km to Gries. From Gries, it’s another 4 km back to the tour’s starting point.

12B - Kohlschnait

This short tour begins in Bruck near Niederhof. Right at the Tauern Cycle Path, the route heads uphill to the right along a paved road toward Gasthof Kohlschnait.

Once at the top, Gasthof Kohlschnait is the perfect spot to take a break and enjoy some refreshments.

12C - St. Georgen - Palfen

This short tour starts in St. Georgen and leads along a single-lane, paved mountain road past Heuberg, heading uphill towards Palfen.

Since you take the same route back down, the Kirchenwirt inn near the end of the tour is a great place to stop for a break – please note the opening hours.

Route:
From Bruck to St. Georgen via the main road – continue uphill to St. Georgen (770 m) and from there further up to Palfen (1,080 m).

12D - Gries to Moosalmhöhe

Starting in Gries, the route follows a single-lane, paved mountain road with gentle curves, gradually climbing into the valley. At the end of the mountain road, you'll encounter a barrier and a parking lot on the right. This is where the forest path begins, winding up through several switchbacks towards the Moosalm.

After passing the Moosalm, the path continues towards Toralm and then past the Adam and Eva Lakes. This is a perfect spot for a break to enjoy the beautiful lakes before continuing up to Moosalmhöhe at 1,843 meters.

On the way back, you retrace your steps, with the Moosalm offering an ideal stop for a refreshment, thanks to its fantastic view.

Route:
From Bruck, follow the marked Tauern Cycle Path to Gries – from there, turn left past Grieserwirt into the Brandenauer Graben. At the last junction, turn left and head uphill to the Moosalm (operating farm).

12E - Kösslrieß to Erlhofalm

This route starts in Bruck on the Tauernradweg at Niederhof. It goes right uphill towards Kösslrieß. The first few hairpin bends are asphalted before the path turns into a forest road through the woods. The ascent is about 900 meters in altitude until you reach the Erlhofalm (not a managed hut).

Route:
Tauernradweg towards Taxenbach, after approx. 3 km turn right upwards as indicated by the signs.

-> 13% maximum gradient

Highlights:
Further hike to the peaks of the "Three Brothers", view of Lake Zell and Großglockner.

12F - Brucker Berg - Seeblick circle

The route can start here on the Großglocknerstraße between Bruck and Vorfusch. Near the town center of Bruck, you take a forest road uphill to the Brucker Berg. Once at the top, the exceptional view over the valley and Lake Zell already rewards you for the first stage. There are about 200 meters of elevation gain left to reach the highest point of this route. Near the Reiteralm at 1,561 meters, you then descend to the Ponyhofalm at 1,357 meters. This is the perfect spot for a rest before the final descent back down into the valley. Along the bike path along the Großglocknerstraße, you then ride back to the starting point.

13A - Ponyhofalm - Schnableralm

The start of this route is between Bruck and Fusch in Judendorf. By bike, you can comfortably reach the location via the bike path along the Großglocknerstraße. A forest road winds uphill over 4 switchbacks to about 1,367 m to the well-maintained Ponyhofalm. If desired, you can continue uphill for about 100 meters in elevation on a mountain bike trail from here.

Otherwise, the route continues along the forest road to the Schnableralm – which is not serviced. Once there, you turn around and return the same way. For those who want more, you can take route No. 12F back (an additional 100 meters of elevation and about 10 km over the Brucker Berg back to Bruck).

13B - Sulzbachtal to Bichlalm

This route starts in Fusch near the town center. The forest road winds through 20 switchbacks from the Angereralm (not serviced) to the Sulzbachalm (not serviced).

13C - Embachhochalm

This route starts in the town center of Fusch. First, you go uphill for about 4 km towards Bad Fusch. The first half of the path is asphalt, and the second half is gravel. Once you reach Bad Fusch, a mountain bike path winds through 9 switchbacks and 500 vertical meters to the Embachhochalm (not serviced). On the way back to Bad Fusch, you can take a break at the snack station. The Kneipp facility right next to the snack station also invites you to relax.

In Bad Fusch, there are many more discoveries to be made:

  • Kneipp basin for invigorating treatments

  • A small mountain lake

  • Short forest hiking trails

  • A natural labyrinth

  • A children's playground

  • A viewing platform with a "Feel Free" hanging swing

  • Snack station with regional specialties and refreshing drinks

  • Various highlights such as "Fusch Ball", music evenings, BBQ days, or yoga courses

13D - Ferleiten to Trauneralm

This beautiful bike path starts directly at the ticket booth of the Großglockner High Alpine Road in Ferleiten. A barrier at the beginning of the path separates hikers and cyclists from cars. Only a golf cart might occasionally cross the path. The almost flat forest road along the Fuscher Ache leads through the idyllic Käfertal, which invites you to linger with small resting spots and display and information boards. After about 4 km, take the left fork at the junction and continue uphill for another 2.5 km to the managed Trauneralm.

Tip: Just before the junction, on the right side, there is a water playground. Kneipp basins and wooden loungers practically beg for a break.

If that's too much, you can turn back and stop for a break at the Oberstattalm just before the end. You can reach it by crossing a small bridge over the Fuscher Ache. The Tauernhaus Ferleiten, located directly at the entrance of the path at the ticket booth, is also managed. This tour is also perfect for families with children. Along the way, children can enjoy Lucky's stamp game at several stations. You can get the stamp pass for free at the Tourist Information offices in Bruck and Fusch. Once all the stamps are collected, you can receive a small gift at both Tourist Information offices.

 

Access: From the center of Fusch, along the Großglockner Road towards Großglockner, directly at the ticket booth of the Großglockner High Alpine Road.

Difficulty: Very easy to challenging.

Slope: Flat (ideal for children) up to 10.4%.

Overall impression: One of the most beautiful bike routes, even achievable for less experienced mountain bikers.

Highlights: Diversity of alpine flora – orchids in the Red Moss, impressive views of 15 three-thousand-meter peaks, and the managed Trauneralm at the end of the valley.

Directions:
From the center of Bruck, follow the Glocknerstraße road towards Fusch – the starting point is on the right side after the Pichl district.

Difficulty: Moderate

Highlights: Beautiful views, circular route to Kaprun, 417 meters of elevation gain, and 15 kilometers.

Small Kitzbühel Round

The Small Kitzbühel Round is a fascinating circular tour through Salzburg and Tyrol. Starting from Fusch, the 128 km route takes you via Mittersill to the Pass Thurn (1,275 m) and onwards to Kitzbühel. Passing through the picturesque St. Johann, the route continues to the Grießenpass (963 m), before heading back through Saalfelden and Zell am See to Fusch.

This tour offers athletic challenges, impressive mountain panoramas, and diverse landscapes – making it ideal for ambitious road cyclists.

Large Kitzbühel Round – A Challenging Alpine Cycling Tour

The Large Kitzbühel Round is a challenging 177 km cycling tour through Salzburg and Tyrol. It starts in Fusch (811 m) and leads through Mittersill, the Gerlos Pass (1,531 m), Aschau, Strass, Wörgl, Kitzbühel, and over the Pass Thurn (1,275 m) back to Mittersill. From there, you can either take the Pinzgauer Local Railway, organize a transfer, or cycle the remaining 34 km back to Fusch. This tour combines athletic challenges with impressive Alpine panoramas and is ideal for experienced cyclists.

The Large Dientner Round is a challenging 108 km road bike tour that starts in Fusch and passes through Taxenbach, St. Johann, Bischofshofen, Mühlbach, Dienten, Saalfelden, and Zell am See before returning to Fusch. Cycle pathGroßglockner (from Bruck to Fusch)

The Großglockner Bike Path connects Bruck with Fusch and stretches over 7.2 kilometers with an elevation gain of 58 meters. This family-friendly route winds through the picturesque Fuscher Valley, offering a relaxing ride away from traffic. In about 30 minutes, cyclists can reach Fusch from Bruck, where cozy inns welcome visitors for a break.

Zeller See Round

The 13.3-kilometer cycling loop around Lake Zell passes through the town of Zell am See and Thumersbach, with only a 13-meter elevation gain.

Route: Bruck - Zell am See - Thumersbach - Bruck

The start of this bike tour is in Bruck at the rest area opposite the Sportcamp Woferlgut. From here, follow the paved bike path along the Salzach River all the way to Kaprun. After approximately 3 km, the path turns into a narrow but flat gravel road leading to the Tauern Spa Kaprun. From there, continue for about 1 km through Kaprun until you reach the entrance to the Tauernradweg.

Tip: There is a drinking trough with fresh mountain water to refill your water bottles, as well as a small bike repair station.

Bruck - Kaprun Romantic Loop

The paved Tauernradweg leads through meadows with a magnificent view of the mountains, all the way back to the starting point in Bruck. Along the final section, there are benches to relax on, as well as several playgrounds and a motor skills park for children.

Once in Bruck, the Sportcamp Woferlgut offers a perfect spot for a stop. Alternatively, there are many other restaurants in the town center of Bruck.

Tauernradweg

The Tauernradweg stretches nearly 300 kilometers from Krimml to Salzburg. Along the country's largest rivers, this cycling route is a delight for every cyclist.

Three stages of the Tauernradweg begin or end directly in Bruck on the Großglocknerstraße.

Mittersill - Bruck

This stage of the Tauernradweg follows the Salzach River through Stuhlfelden, Uttendorf, Niedernsill, Piesendorf, and Kaprun, leading to Bruck, 32 kilometers away. Upon arrival in Bruck, there is a nice rest stop with wooden benches and lounges opposite the Sportcamp Woferlgut, as well as a fountain with fresh mountain water to refill your water bottle.

A detour to Fusch is possible from here. Just follow the signage for the Großglockner cycle path, about 7 km. The riding time is approximately 30 minutes with a 58 m ascent.

Bruck - Schwarzach

This stage of the Tauernradweg starts in Bruck, passes through Taxenbach, and leads to Schwarzach. Along the cycle path, you'll enjoy fantastic views of the mountain landscape.

Upon reaching Schwarzach, you can continue on the Tauernradweg towards Golling.

Lofer - Bruck

This stage of the Tauernradweg runs from Lofer to Bruck. Shortly after Lofer, on the seventh stage, you'll reach the village of St. Martin, from where you can take a detour to the pilgrimage church of Maria Kirchental. The Tauernradweg continues along the Saalach, passes through Weißbach, and eventually leads through Saalfelden, Maishofen, and Zell am See back to Bruck. With a distance of 53.1 kilometers, this is quite a long section.

By the way: From Zell am See, you can take the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn back to Krimml, the starting point of the Tauernradweg loop.
