Insider tip for special cycling moments on the Großglockner
The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is one of the most impressive challenges for cycling enthusiasts - whether by road bike or e-bike. Those who start early are not only rewarded with a fresh breeze and breathtaking morning atmosphere, but also experience the Glockner in its most tranquil form. The later afternoon time also has its charm - when the sun shines golden through the serpentines and the hustle and bustle of the day slowly subsides.

Cycling safely on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road
The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is becoming increasingly popular with cyclists - particularly due to the boom in e-bikes. However, this also increases the volume of traffic on the road and can lead to dangerous situations in interaction with motorised traffic.
In order to increase safety for all road users, the Grossglockner Hochalpenstraßen AG (GROHAG) recommends planning the ascent at particularly low-traffic times:
Ideally between 06:00 and 07:00 in the morning (but no later than 08:00) or in the late afternoon from 15:00.
Please help to improve safety on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road - and pass this recommendation on to other cyclists.
