Once a year, professionals and ambitious amateurs compete on the legendary route, which takes them through breathtaking landscapes and steep climbs. The two routes, Classic and Ultra, both start in the center of Bruck an der Glocknerstraße and finish at Fuscher Törl at 2.428 meters or at Edelweißspitze at 2.571 meters. In total, participants must conquer 1.672 meters of elevation over 27.3 kilometers or 1.815 meters over 28.9 kilometers, with gradients ranging from 10 to 12 percent.

Farmers' autumn
As summer comes to an end, the so-called 5th season begins with the traditional Farmers' Autumn event, which takes place annually in the SalzburgerLand. From mid-August to the end of October, over 2.000 cultural events are held throughout the region. The focus is on the unique aspects of rural life, the ingredients and dishes of traditional farming cuisine, as well as age-old customs. These are brought to life through farm or harvest festivals, gatherings of musicians, mountain drives, markets, fairs, hikes, and cooking and craft workshops.

Alpine cattle drive festival
In the BRUCK FUSCH | GROSSGLOCKNER region, the popular Alpine cattle drive festival takes place every year on the first weekend of September. This event celebrates the return of the festively decorated cows, which have spent the summer grazing on the mountain pastures and are now making their way back down to the valley. During this time, the beloved festival celebrating the alpine descent is held at the site of the Agricultural College in Bruck. The cows, which have spent the summer on the Piffalm pasture, return to the valley to spend the winter.

Customs and traditions
In keeping with tradition and custom, the cows are lovingly decorated by the hardworking helpers of the Agricultural College in Bruck with handmade headpieces. The cows wear flower wreaths, colorful ribbons, and magnificent bells, symbolizing gratitude for a safe and fruitful summer season on the mountain pastures. Once they return to the valley, the festively decorated cows can be admired during the parade on the grounds of the Agricultural College in Bruck. Accompanied by various local associations and music groups, the Mountain Drive Festival is definitely worth a visit for both guests and locals alike. Culinary delights await visitors, with tasty regional specialties served by the local farmers of Bruck. Additionally, the festival is a paradise for lovers of farmers' markets, with lovingly crafted handicrafts from local producers available for purchase.
The next Mountain Drive Festival will take place on September 6, 2025.
The farmers of Bruck, the Agricultural College Bruck, and the BRUCK FUSCH | GROSSGLOCKNER Tourism Association look forward to your visit!

This year, a very special highlight awaits once again: As the weekend coincides with the date of the Winter Solstice, the celebration of the Winter Solstice will once again take place in Bad Fusch – just like last year. A cozy torchlit walk through the snowy natural surroundings, accompanied by music and magical moments, will turn the evening into an unforgettable experience.
A truly enchanting event that brings the anticipation of Christmas to life in a most special way.
The Advent Magic has become not only a highlight for visitors but also a beloved tradition for locals, and it is set to become an essential part of the winter season in our region.
This year, the Winter Solstice celebration and the Advent Magic in Bad Fusch will once again take place in the same format on December 21 and 22. Further details will be announced throughout the year.

Winter solstice in
the Alps
The Winter Solstice has been celebrated by various cultures for centuries. It marks the death of the old year and the birth of the new one.
On the night of December 21st to 22nd, the longest night of the year occurs, and the sun reaches its lowest point in the sky. After the shortest day of the year, the sun's strength begins to grow again, and the days gradually get longer. A new year begins.
A cozy torchlit walk takes us through the snowy Bad Fusch, accompanied by atmospheric music and many little highlights. Afterwards, we gather by the pond in Bad Fusch, where wish branches are thrown into the fire, and Perchten (traditional Alpine spirits) chase away our past burdens.
Participation in the Winter Solstice program is free. We welcome guests bringing their own lanterns. The torchlit walk is only suitable for individuals who are able to safely make the walk up to the pond. During winter, the path can be particularly challenging and slippery due to snow and ice. Please only join if you are in the appropriate physical condition and have suitable footwear.
