Grossglockner High Alpine Road

Austria's Highest View
A drive along the Großglockner High Alpine Road, Austria's highest and most beautiful mountain pass road, is an absolute must and one of the region's top highlights. The breathtaking beauty of the views and the Hohe Tauern mountain range is simply overwhelming. With over 36 hairpin turns, the road takes you to an altitude of over 2,500 meters, right into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Surrounded by countless peaks over 3,000 meters high, visitors find themselves in a high-altitude paradise at the end of the Großglockner High Alpine Road.

Numerous highlights
Starting from the center of Bruck, the road leads to Fusch and continues to the Ferleiten toll station. This is definitely a must-visit for young travelers, with the Wild & Adventure Park Ferleiten, where over 200 animals from the Alps and around the world can be admired. From Ferleiten, the well-maintained road winds its way up in numerous hairpin turns – either via Fuscher Törl to the Edelweißspitze (the highest point of the road) or through the Hochtor to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe at the foot of the Pasterze Glacier.

The best for last
The shared excitement for the stunning view drives cars, motorcycles, and bikes to effortlessly conquer altitude, each meter bringing them closer to the goal of reaching Austria’s highest peak. Equally captivating are the well-maintained information boards, info points, and exhibits that delve into the history of this unique landmark, redefining the saying "The journey is the destination." Once at the top, visitors may be lucky enough to spot a marmot crossing the path on the meadows of the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe. As a true highlight, the Pasterze, the largest glacier in the Eastern Alps, lies at your feet, surrounded by a unique flora and fauna.
